From Burnout to Breakthrough: My Healing Journey

I know what it’s like to feel unheard, dismissed, and exhausted from searching for answers. My journey with chronic symptoms started long before I even knew what was happening to me.

In 2008, I graduated from law school and entered the high-stakes world of big law, where I quickly burned out. I couldn’t keep up the way others seemed to, constantly battling exhaustion and feeling like my body was failing me. When I became a mom, things only intensified. After the birth of my second daughter, my oldest was diagnosed with autism, and I suddenly found myself balancing the demands of raising a newborn while navigating therapies, doctor’s visits, and an overwhelming sense of responsibility. The stress was relentless, and my body started to shut down.

I developed severe, unrelenting fatigue and full-body pain—to the point where I could barely function. I cycled through doctors who brushed me off, suggesting depression, iron deficiency, or low vitamin D. When none of their solutions worked, I kept pushing for answers until I was finally diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2015.

At first, the diagnosis didn’t bring relief—if anything, things got worse. The medications I was prescribed caused more harm than good, and I gained 40 pounds while still feeling awful. I felt trapped inside a body that wouldn’t cooperate, grieving the life I once had. I didn’t just feel sick—I felt invisible.

Everything changed when I attended the Mayo Clinic’s Pain Rehabilitation Program, where I learned how stress, nervous system dysfunction, and mindset play a critical role in chronic symptoms—especially in fibromyalgia, where the central nervous system is already compromised. That program gave me my life back, but my healing journey wasn’t over.

Over the next several years, I continued to struggle with lingering symptoms, new autoimmune diagnoses, and a realization: fibromyalgia isn’t just a nervous system disorder—it’s an autoimmune condition, and autoimmune conditions require nutrition and lifestyle support. I dove deep into research, learning how gut health, stress, digestion, and environmental factors all work together to either fuel or heal chronic conditions.

As part of that exploration, I was introduced to Human Design. For me, it became another practical framework for understanding how my energy, stress response, and decision-making actually function. It helped me recognize where I had been pushing past my capacity for years and how living out of alignment had contributed to both burnout and illness. Working with my design allowed me to care for myself in ways that supported healing rather than undermined it.

Once I started addressing my health from a holistic perspective—working with my body instead of against it—I finally saw lasting improvements.

I’ve spent over a decade researching, testing, and refining a sustainable approach to managing chronic symptoms, without restrictive diets or band-aid solutions. I now help women who feel like “difficult cases”—those who have been told their labs are fine, who feel like their bodies are falling apart, or who are juggling multiple diagnoses without a clear path forward.
